Sangbøger i den missionske vækkelsesbevægelse i Danmark 1974–2025
Abstract
In this article hymn- and songbooks from the Evangelical Movement in the Lutheran Church of Denmark within the last 50 years are investigated. The framework is the process of canonization, as it is a period where songbooks from four organisations are fused into one. This is a unique opportunity to find tendencies and characteristics of worship texts and tunes in the culture of the movement. Old popular hymns and songs of the movement are introduced and trendsetting songwriters and composers are presented
The unification began in the youth culture, and this lead the way to a shared hymn- and songbook (2013) for the whole movement. Both songbooks for the youth and the adults are investigated, and the balance between local songs in Danish and translated songs from Scandinavia and Anglo-American Evangelicalism are examined and characterized. This is put into perspective into international trends of the period. Anglo-American Evangelicalism has inspired the editorial process of the songbooks during the period, but at the same time there is a wish and an attempt to keep and create a local tradition of songs and theology.
